Paraprofessional I: $1,307 – $1,788 per month (3.5 – 3.75 hours)
Paraprofessional II: $1,444 - $3,424 per month (3.5 – 6.5 hours)
Paraprofessional II – ELD Aide: $1,428 - $1,823 per month (3.75 hours)

Brief Description of Paraprofessional I Position: Under the supervision of the site administrator, the Paraprofessional I assists with supervision of students in various settings and the preparation of instructional materials. Examples of duties may be copying of materials, supervision of students at recess, during lunch, in the physical education class, in a Kindergarten class, at the car drop-off and pick-up lines, etc. Paraprofessional I employees that work as a Kindergarten aide or Physical Education aide will receive direction from the teacher.
Brief Description of Paraprofessional II Position: Under the supervision of a site administrator with direction from the teacher, administrator or designee, the Paraprofessional II assists with activities, such as individualized and group instruction of students, preparation of instructional materials, and supervision of students in specialized programs. This position also may require (with assistance), the ability to physically assist in moving a student throughout their daily transitions at school or assisting the student with hygiene.
Brief Description of Paraprofessional II - English Language Development (ELD) Aide Position: Under the supervision of a site administrator with direction from the teacher, administrator or designee, the ELD Aide assists with activities, such as individualized and group instruction of students, preparation of instructional materials, and supervision of students in the English Language Development program.
Qualifications:
1. Previous Experience: At least one year of experience of working with school-aged children. For paraprofessional II applicants, it is desirable to have experience working with students in specialized programs with specialized needs, including communication and physical disabilities.
2. Education: Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade. For Paraprofessional II positions, candidates must pass the District’s basic skills test. The District will accept CBEST test scores in lieu of the test.
Work Calendar: Paraprofessional positions are either 3.5 or 3.75 hours per day. Paraprofessional II positions range from 3.5 to 6.5 hours per day. Candidates must be available to work the same hours each day, Monday through Friday. The work calendar spans the school year, which is mid-August to early June. The work year for paraprofessionals in 2022-23 is August 12, 2022 to June 2, 2023, with Friday, August 12, 2022 being a professional development day.
Salary: Placement on salary range 19 for Paraprofessional I employees is dependent on experience as a paraprofessional and on the educational level completed. The wage range is $1,307 – $1,788 per month, which is commensurate to $17.24 - $22.01 per hour. Placement on salary range 23 for Paraprofessional II employees is dependent on experience as a paraprofessional and on the education level completed. The wage range is $1,444 - $3,424 per month, which is commensurate to $19.05 - $24.31 per hour.
Benefits: Positions that are at or above 4.0 hours per day are eligible to participate in the District’s medical benefit plans. Currently the District’s maximum contribution to an employee’s benefits package is $18,034 per year. Premiums for a part-time employee are pro-rated based on the employee’s full-time equivalent (FTE) percentage. The FTE for paraprofessional II positions are 0.5 FTE (50%) for 4.0 hours per day to 0.8125 FTE (81.25%) for 6.5 hours per day.

2. For Paraprofessional II Candidates Only: Any paraprofessional II applicant who has not passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST), or who does not possess a valid teaching credential, must arrange with the Human Resources Department to take the District’s basic skills test. Testing candidates are given two hours to complete a test composed of 110 questions in the areas of basic math, reading comprehension, etc. No electronic devices are allowed in the testing room. The candidate must answer at least 70% of the questions correctly to pass the test. The test may be taken as many times as needed in order to pass.
If it will be necessary for the testing applicant to take the District’s basic skills test, please schedule a testing appointment immediately upon submitting an application. 3. After the screening of applications and testing materials, invitations to interview will be issued by phone or email. Interviews will be conducted in person before an interview panel.
PARAPROFESSIONAL I DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS
