Full Job Description

Purpose: To develop embedded control firmware, provide product support and improve reliability and manufacturability of embedded electronic controls. As lead of a software team, will be working in a self-motivated, fast paced environment, to design, implement, and maintain embedded controls’ firmware and Standard Operating Procedures.

Responsibilities:

Works with project team members to identify and mitigate development risks and produce development plans
Develops coding for new products, maintains and modifies code for existing products using embedded C programming/Web programming, in accordance with software specifications.
Maintain software design documentation
Collaborate with Hardware Design Engineers on hardware / software system integration
Perform unit and integration testing
Conduct Software requirements analysis, software risk analysis, & software performance analysis
Maintain standards compliance
Directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus equipment
Research and solve cross functional design/production issues
Work with Engineering, Quality, Production and other professional staff members to resolve discrepancies and variations as may occur relative to manufacturing process and/or test instructions, shop packet, and quality
Report project status with customers

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES AND HIRING REQUISITES

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering Technology.

Experience: Participation in academic projects or work assignments involving the development of embedded firmware in C language or web application development required.

Computer skills and literacy sufficient to access, correct, input and search data and information and prepare reports;
Numerical intelligence - mathematical skills, read and interpret instruments and test equipment; skillful to recognize, read and work reliably with sequential alpha-numeric designations as contained in, work orders, prints, product codes, lot numbers;
Spatial relationship aptitude; able to read mechanical prints and schematics
Conflict resolution skills – recognizes and intervenes to deescalate conflict in a timely manner
Leadership skills – mentors, coaches and inspires others to overcome obstacles, persevere in efforts, accept accountability for and execute responsibilities

Manual/digital dexterity (high demand) -to lift, stack and set materials, employ basic hand tools and operate machinery - grip, hold, lift, physically manipulate; to operate computers and computer programs, write and complete documents; open packets of information; separate materials for recycling scrap.
Visual – (high demand) - reading documents; inspecting and observing work and machine function; recognize and interact with computer displays; strong spatial relations for positioning and alignment; able to recognize and distinguish between colors (MPIs, shop traveler priority system, warning lights)
Lifting, standing, walking, bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, stooping/crouching, reaching, squatting (high demand) – some opportunities for alternate sit/stand though majority of work is performed from standing position; lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Environmental (moderate demand) – exposure to dust and fibers, noise; chemical fumes mitigated by PPE, ventilation and vacuum systems;
