SHORE TRANSIT is seeking an individual with experience in general building maintenance with some knowledge in simple mechanic tasks.
The Maintenance Technician position will work with Shore Transit Maintenance Team to perform routine building maintenance that may include: power washing, grounds keeping (including lawn mowing, trimming of shrubs and small trees, trash removal, gutter cleaning and weed removal), indoor/outdoor painting, light bulb/HVAC filter replacement, minor plumbing/electrical repairs, basic carpentry/drywall repairs, assist with snow removal as needed and bus shelter installation & maintenance.
This position would also work alongside the Shore Transit Mechanics and be of assistance in the shop. Those shop duties could include: diagnosis and repair of mechanical issues, small brake repairs, headlight and other small accessory replacements (mirrors, wipers, etc.), assist the mechanics with tasks in the shop and on roadside calls as needed.
Summary
Performs routine maintenance and repairs of facilities, grounds, buses, trucks and automobiles as directed. This position requires the following
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Bus, truck, and automobile maintenance and repair
· Diagnosis and repair mechanical issues with agency buses, vans, cars, etc.
· Performs work in safe and efficient manner, observing cost-savings measures
· Raises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle
· Adjusts brakes, repairs or replaces shock absorbers
· Mends damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts
· Vehicle windshield, window replacement
· Replaces and adjusts headlights, installs and repairs accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, windshield wipers, etc.
· Performs routine maintenance of vehicles, including service, inspection and repair
· Responds to road calls of broken or damaged vehicles; assist with towing and/or emergency operations
· Assist Mechanics and Maintenance Supervisor with needed repairs and tasks
· Communicate with Dispatch regarding vehicle mechanical and safety issues.
· Transports agency vehicles in and out of the region for specialty service, repairs, upgrades, etc.
Facility and grounds maintenance and repairs

Education and/or Experience
· One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
