Director of Talent
Reports to: Vice President of People Development
The Director of Talent is responsible for leading and ensuring success of recruitment and hiring across Bright Star Schools. They lead and execute the full recruitment and selection cycle for all roles at Bright Star Schools. The Director of Talent operates in service of recruiting, onboarding, and retaining high quality, mission-driven individuals to support student achievement for all students. As an essential part of a mission-driven team, the Director of Talent works to ensure an effective, equitable, and efficient hiring process for all roles, and ensures processes are completed with quality and fidelity. They will effectively collaborate with school leaders, teachers, support staff, and external partners to onboard effective hires and retain staff in order to fulfill the mission and vision of Bright Star Schools.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
-
2 + Years of experience in TK-12 public education
-
2 + Years of teaching or counseling experience with a proven track record of effectiveness (Required)

2 + Years of recruitment and/or hiring experience (Highly preferred)

Master’s Degree (Desired)

Duties and Responsibilities:
RECRUITMENT
-
Leads teacher recruitment vision, strategy, and goal-setting, in partnership with the VP of People Development
-
Leads outreach and cultivation strategy for candidates
-
Creates innovative programs and campaigns that attract diverse candidates to Bright Star Schools
-
Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with external partners, such as universities and teacher prep programs, to create and maintain a high quality, diverse teacher pipelines

Collaborate with Senior Manager and VP of Marketing & Communications and Talent & Senior Talent Manager on teacher recruitment strategy and execution
-
Create and execute recruitment events and marketing plan, in collaboration with the Communications Team

Attend select job fairs and recruitment events

Lead internal referral campaign
-
Collaborate with Instructional Leadership Team to cultivate high priority candidates
-
Present and represent Bright Star Schools well at all external events to amplify brand and recruit staff

Work with hiring managers to develop and maintain job descriptions and build hiring profiles.

Collaborate with school leaders to cultivate new teacher hires after accepting their offer and communicating with them from the time of hire until beginning of the year professional development.

Collaborate with Alumni Support College Success Team to build pipeline of alumni interested in a career in education
-
Propose, create, and/or support any other new talent initiatives and projects as appropriate
-
Build, cultivate, and ensure effectiveness of pathways for Instructional Assistants to teach at Bright Star Schools.

Build and manage recruitment for the Alder Residency program, including candidate recruitment, selection, onboarding, and also maintaining communication with the Residency Cohort for hiring as Bright Star educators

Create and maintain a pipeline for student teachers to work at Bright Star Schools and eventually be retained and trained through the organization

Communicate professionally with candidates through phone, e-mail, and in-person communication

Ensure the day to day recruitment needs such as, but not limited to: the posting of open positions, scheduling interviews, attending job fairs, corresponding with candidates, screening and sending resumes, etc.

Work with school leaders/hiring managers to understand the hiring profiles for each new position

Collaborate with Finance Team on open position approval process
TALENT STRATEGY & STAFF RETENTION

Support Talent Team in data analysis, benchmark setting, and progress to goals
-
Plan and co-lead annual Talent Team Stepback
-
Facilitate recurring Talent Team check in meetings to ensure clear communication, collaboration and progress to goals
-
Support annual teacher retention analysis and support team to develop goals and action plans as a result of the analysis
-
Develop and implement evaluation metrics to measure recruitment and hiring achievements and to help us refine processes

Support and facilitate DEIB spaces as needed

Develop and execute staff surveys to understand staff experience
-
Facilitate data analysis and action plan conversations to ensure understanding of staff survey data

Collaborate with HR, Talent, and department leads to develop systems for appreciating Bright Star staff

Execute appreciation events, activities, and programs to ensure Bright Star staff feel valued and supported

Recruit and implement Language Development Program for Bright Star Schools employees
-
Manage Applicant Tracking System and external Applicant Tracking System vendor relationship

Facilitate trainings on hiring process for all school leaders involved in hiring teachers, and ensure all interview processes are effectively facilitated

Collaborate with a fast-paced, goal-driven team to develop strategies, policies, processes and tools that are sustainable and replicable to support and facilitate the hiring of qualified candidates

Manage the internal referral program: #BeBrighter, building marketing strategies including events and incentive challenges and maintaining growth towards recruitment goals.
