Overview:

The Vice President of Brooklyn and Bronx Community Schools oversees the operation of Good Shepherd Services (GSS) Community School sites across Brooklyn and the Bronx. In collaboration with the Chief of Program Officer (CPO) of Education and Vocation, the Vice President manages and strengthens existing programs and drives initiatives to expand services at the various Community Schools. The Vice President of Community Schools leads the Community School initiative in partnership with the DOE to promote student engagement in school and students achieving academic and social-emotional success.

Reports To: Senior Vice President of Partnership Schools

Location: Brooklyn/Bronx Locations

Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Exempt

Salary: $115,000 to $125,000

Major Responsibilities:

Oversee the Brooklyn and Bronx Community School portfolio which includes elementary, middle, and high schools.
Provide consistent supervision and opportunities for professional growth for program directors to support the mission and purpose of the schools and support the staff.
Responsible for building and sustaining relationships with school-based staff and administration, community stakeholders, other CBO community school partners, and other GSS programs to help promote collaboration.
Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the CPO and Finance Department.
Conceive, develop, and implement new programming in collaboration with the CPO.
Build and maintain rapport with DOE Central administration.
Create and maintain structures and systems for staff accountability and case. management - across multiple sites to ensure fidelity to the GSS Community School model.
Hire and support staff based on Youth and Family Development (YFD), Trauma Informed Practice (TIP), and Anti-Racist and Equity (ARE) principles.
Operate from the Good Shepherd mission orientated perspective.
Monitor compliance and contractual requirements for each program.
Review, analyze and respond to appropriate public Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
Assist in the development and implementation of quality improvement mechanisms and procedures.
Participate in agency work groups, as well as youth, education, and workforce development efforts.
Represent GSS at community school meetings, trainings, workshops and contract agency meetings.
Consistently partner with Brooklyn and Bronx Vice Presidents to promote collaboration.
Coordinate Brooklyn and Bronx Community School Program Leadership meetings and trainings.
Support Program Directors in maintaining communication with principals and contractual program managers of funders.
Utilize technology as a management tool for tracking, analyzing, discussing and improving upon programmatic data.
Maintain up to date knowledge in relevant practice areas.
Seek to implement innovative strategies to meet participants’ needs.
Act as liaison to the larger community as appropriate including membership on relevant committees, representation and/or participation in community, city, state and federal meetings and committees.
Collaborate with GSS support departments (Development, Finance, PEP, Government Contracts, HR, IT, Learning and Development, and Facilities) to ensure program excellence.
Participate in agency and community school trainings and workshops to enhance professional knowledge and growth.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with extensive experience working with youth and families in a school-based setting or youth development framework required.
Strong leadership skills and at least three years of experience supervising school-based programs (community school programs preferred) in a youth development framework required.
Must be able to develop and monitor budgets.
Knowledgeable of Department of Education (DOE) protocols and an ability to work in partnership with DOE administration, principals, and stakeholders.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Excellent verbal and written communication, and organizational skills are required.
Must be able to attend outside community meetings and work extended hours as needed.
Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based youth, family and community development perspective.
Extensive experience working with youth and families in a school-based setting or youth development framework required.
Proficient in using technological tools for data tracking, evaluation, communication and to promote collaboration.
Ability to clearly articulate a vision and influence key stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new protocols and procedures.
Capacity to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects, transitioning easily between working independently and contributing as part of a team.
Strong personal integrity and accountability.
