WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Fitness Instructors at BKB are responsible for teaching a variety of perk classes to our members and guests. The Fitness Instructor will ensure the timely start and finish of each class, and create class curriculums and outlines that are engaging and inspiring to our community.
It’s time to get weird with Brooklyn Boulders.
The rate is $22 per hour plus commission and gym membership.
YOU WILL:
- Create and lead engaging sequences that follow our curriculum guidelines for fitness classes
- Bring your personality and background into your teaching
- Provide a safe space for individuals to listen to their bodies, checking for consent before using touch and providing modifications and options when applicable
- Ensure class starts and ends on time
- Arrive no less than 15 minutes prior to class for any necessary set up and to greet participants
- Ensure all students are properly checked in
- Check that the space is clean and comfortable and in alignment with the brand standard for your specific program (manage music, temperature, lighting, equipment, diffusers etc)
- Positively inspire guests and members and delight them with your energy, enthusiasm and instruction
- Follow room opening and closing guidelines, leaving the instructional space tidy, organized, clean and ready for the next classEnsure standards for cleanliness are upheld -- communicate directly with the Operations Manager when they are not
- Own your classes by securing subs when needed, and communicate coverage and needs to the Operations Manager or General Manager when applicable
- Inform the Operations Manager of problems or safety concerns as they arise
- Follow Brooklyn Boulders policies on risk management and reporting (as applicable)
- While not required, we encourage you to attend trainings, meetings, and events when applicable
- Are encouraged to attend classes taught by your fellow instructors +1/month
- All other duties as required
YOU HAVE:
- Minimum 1 year teaching experience, 2+ years of teaching experience preferred
- Valid certifications in class format required
- Personal Training, Group Exercise Certification, and/or Yoga Teacher Certification from one or more of the following organizations:American College of Sports MedicineAmerican Council on ExerciseNational Academy of Sports MedicineInternational Sports Science AssociationNational Strength and Conditioning AssociationYoga Alliance 200-HourAdditional specialty/certifications preferred [TRX / Kettlebell Etc]
- Knowledge of and ability to implement group fitness teaching strategies, incorporating music, tempo, cueing technique, and rhythm to classes
- The ability to be professional while motivating class participants
- The ability to cooperate and work well with other team members
- Your own liability insurance and have BKB Queensbridge, LLC named as an additional insuredContractors only
- A desire to pursue continuing education
- A valid CPR certification [to be kept on file]
