Summary of Position:
Under the direction of the Library Coordinator and Assistant Director for Blue Ridge Academy, this position is responsible for the Lending Library program. The Lending Library Specialist serves as the initial point of contact and support for the Lending Library, Enrichment Returns, Withdrawal and Restitution, staff, and homeschool families. They assist the homeschool community with professionalism, patience, and guidance. Lending Library Specialists are responsible for communicating effectively with the Assistant Director, Coordinator, and other members of the Lending Library team and ensuring that Lending Library policies, procedures, and expectations are followed. This is a classified staff position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
I. Responsibilities to school and staff
A. Attends all required meetings and trainings
B. Completes all work thoroughly
C. Manages time effectively to meet all necessary deadlines
D. Response to all calls and emails in a timely manner
II. Responsibilities to Lending Library
A. Understand and/or is actively learning and seeking knowledge of homeschooling
educational philosophies, learning styles, homeschooling curriculum, and how to support all types of homeschooling families and staff
B. Cultivates a friendly, helpful relationship with the Enrichment and Enrollment departments
C. Attend weekly Lending Library Team Meetings and monthly Team Meetings
D. Responsible for following the operations, policies and procedures relating to the Lending Library, Withdrawal and Restitution
E. Reports to assigned library location at a minimum of 2 days per week
F. Assist in maintaining an organized and up-to-date catalog and circulation system
G. Process new materials making them ready for checkout
H. Process 40+ Lending Library orders, communicate with families, and prepare 5+
shipments per day in an 8 hour period when working in one of the Lending Libraries
I. Inventory 75+ Lending Library returned items per day in an 8 hour period when
solely working on inventory
J. Keep statistical records on usage and circulation
K. Supervise and execute automated inventory
L. Pull reports and audit student information through the enrichment return process
M. Understand and be able to teach others about the Withdrawal and Restitution policy
N. On a quarterly basis, pull reports on current student information and update patron records in the online library system
O. Help parents, students, and teachers locate materials
P. Respond to Lending Library emails/calls in a timely manner
Q. Understand and be able to teach others about Lending Library policies and processes
R. Bring concerns and ideas to the supervising Coordinator and/or Assistant Director as necessary
S. Collaborate with CC Coordinators, Family Liaisons and other Specialists on a regular basis and attend events and fairs

Qualifications:
● Have one year of experience in a similar position or position with similar skill sets
● Minimum of one year of experience in a similar position or position with a similar skill set.

● Driving up to 2 days a week to our Acton and/or San Dimas library locations
● While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and stand; sit; use hands and/or fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; the employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Specific hearing abilities are required for this job. Keyboarding and/or phone use up to 8 hours per day may be required.
