We are looking for a highly skilled Product Development Manager with a robust background in research and development of products, specifically in corrosion inhibitors and inorganic chemistry. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in formulating, wet chemistry, characterization, scientific principles, statistics, design of experiments, and will work closely with operations to scale up products and develop product data sheets and set specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and Development:
- Lead the research and development of new products with a focus on corrosion inhibitors, redox reactions, and inorganic chemistry.
- Utilize strong working knowledge in formulating, wet chemistry, characterization, and scientific principles.
- Implement design of experiments and statistical analysis to optimize product development.
- Test formulations for efficacy in corrosion inhibition and environmental weathering, utilizing test methods such as salt spray, corrosion testing, accelerated weathering, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
Product Scale-Up and Documentation:
- Collaborate with operations to scale up products from lab-scale to production.
- Develop detailed product data sheets and set specifications to ensure product quality and consistency.
Team Management and Mentorship:
- Manage and mentor junior chemists, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members, ensuring their successful contribution to projects.
Technical Communication and Presentation:
- Write comprehensive technical documents and reports.
- Present findings to clients and suppliers effectively.
- Represent the company by presenting technical papers and documents at industry trade shows and conferences.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical management role, or 10 years of experience in formulating and developing products.
- Proven track record of successfully launching meaningful innovations and products.
- Extensive experience in researching and developing products, particularly in corrosion inhibitors, redox reactions, and inorganic chemistry.
- Strong background in formulating, wet chemistry, characterization, scientific principles, and design of experiments.
- Experience in scaling up products and developing product data sheets and specifications.
- Proficient in statistical analysis and the use of statistical software such as Minitab or JMP.
- Experience in using electronic lab notebooks (ELN).
- Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor junior chemists.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills with experience presenting at industry trade shows and conferences.
