We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Stage Carpenter for the renowned Excalibur Tournament of Kings. THE JOB:
The Lead Stage Carpenter is dedicated to providing refined luxury service in order to create lasting and favorable memories. This position executes the company's core service standards, brand attributes, and sustainability initiatives. Job functions include overseeing all show operations on behalf of the Carpentry department as directed by the Head and Assistant Head Carpenters and providing all other supporting services.
THE STARTING RATE: $43.30/hr
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Preserve on a nightly, ongoing, and long-term basis, the “opening night” quality of the designer’s vision and the artistic integrity of the production according to the needs of artistic, technical and company management.
Ensure that all departmental personnel are adequately and appropriately trained according to the guidelines established by the company and management as well as official agencies regulating safety and training requirements.
Establish emergency procedures for show systems and situations with the department head, technical management, stage management and the rest of the technical team and ensure that all artists, technicians, and staff are familiar with and trained on all pertinent procedures and equipment.
Ensure all aspects of all documentation created and/or maintained by the department are up to date.
With the department head, coordinate and supervise special projects including the research, purchase, installation, testing, troubleshooting, integration and ongoing maintenance and inspection of all equipment and systems required for rehearsal, training and show applications as well as inter- or intra-departmental needs.
Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show.
Supervise departmental operations and coordinate departmental activities in the absence of the department head, and coordinate with other departments to ensure safe training, rehearsal and show environments and operations.
Maintain cue track documentation and participate in cue track rotation.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Previous engagement in a high-energy entertainment environment as a stage carpenter, lead carpenter or similar role.
Proficient in basic theatrical rigging, mechanics, electricity, electronics, and skilled in using power and hand tools, with a solid understanding of standard theatrical construction techniques.
Demonstrates strong organizational abilities, computer proficiency, project management skills, and the capacity to lead and mentor a team while working effectively under pressure.
Experienced in working on large-scale production shows and skilled in handling materials such as plastic, fiberglass, foam, and metal.
Committed to adhering to and promoting OSHA regulations for the safe operation of all show elements, and actively participates in required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training.
Prior experience in handling horses as needed.
Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Flexibility to work various hours/shifts as needed per on call requirements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
2 years of prior relevant experience working backstage at a show production as a stage carpenter or similar role.
Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays.
Must possess Osha 30 certification.
TOURNAMENT OF KINGS DETAILS:
Show days and times are typically: Thursday - Monday | 6:00 PM & 8:30 PM
Dark days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays
