Company Information
We are a real estate investment company with multiple business units in Southern California. We are currently looking for a Human Resources Generalist who will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the HR department, including but not limited to recruitment and onboarding processes, benefits administration, payroll processing, salary administration, and employee relations. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The position reports to the Director of Human Resources.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Recruitment and Staffing: Manage full-cycle recruiting, including advertising, screening applicants, conducting interviews, and employee onboarding.
2. Payroll: Manage full-cycle payroll processing, reconciliation, and report generation. (Paylocity is our payroll vendor).
3*. Benefits Administration: *Manage employee programs (e.g., health insurance and retirement plans) and reconcile related invoices.
4. Employee Relations: Handle daily employee relations inquiries/matters, address concerns, and foster a positive work environment. Assist the Human Resources Director with escalated concerns.
5. Performance Management: Support the performance evaluation processes, which includes preparation of salary administration Excel spreadsheets provided to upper management. May assist managers throughout the process in writing performance evaluations and delivering employee reviews.
6. Compliance: Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Update HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and alignment with company goals.
7. Reporting and Analytics: Complete and provide reports to management and fulfill any governmental requests/requirements.
8. Records Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal information, employment history, performance evaluations, etc. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations regarding record-keeping and confidentiality.
9. Training and Development: Coordinate and oversee required training (e.g., anti-harassment training, etc.).
10. Worker’s Compensation: Assist in the claim process and work with the manager regarding return-to-work restrictions.
11. Leaves of Absence: Assist with employee leaves, including FMLA and other statutory leave requirements.
12. Communication: Effectively communicate with employees, management, applicants, and 3rd parties. Work in conjunction with management to enforce company culture.
13. Other duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibility
There is no supervisory responsibility for this position.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role consisting of desk and computer work. Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with some flexibility. The position is currently hybrid but is subject to change. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
- 2-5 years of experience in human resources required
- 1-3 years of experience as an HR Coordinator/Generalist preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in payroll processing
- Strong communication/interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport
- Ability to work with little supervision
- Strong emotional intelligence (EQ) and understanding of people
- Passionate about human resources, wants to improve/develop, seeks to gain more responsibility
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Education and Experience
- Payroll experience using Paylocity
- Human Resources certification
- Experience in working with multiple business units
