The California State University, Dominguez Hills Toro Auxiliary Partners ("TAP") is a non-profit organization and was incorporated in 1968 as a partner of California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) to provide supplemental services that enhance core academic programs which are an integral part of the University's educational mission. CSUDH is a highly diverse, metropolitan university primarily serving the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. CSUDH is one of 23 campuses that comprise the California State University System.

Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Human Resources Coordinator will support a diverse employee population with crucial services for the full employee life cycle. Major responsibilities include employee onboarding, HRIS administration, processing of personnel transaction requests, coordination of benefits, compliance training, timekeeping assistance, payroll processing, and partnering with campus constituents to provide best in class human resources and payroll support.
Salary Range (Full-time hourly): $23 - $28
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directly assists the HR Manager with recruiting, compliance, record-keeping, and general administration.
- Process payroll for on campus entities and conduct periodic audits of payroll.
- Conducts proper maintenance of employee files, updating and accurately maintaining data in a timely manner.
- Assists employees with general HR/payroll questions and educates as needed on company-specific HR policies.
- Assists in the EDD process by gathering and providing data to respond to unemployment agencies. Respond to State Disability notices.
- Serve as the onboarding point of contact for the new hire program and support new employees during their transition to TAP.
- Assists in the hiring process by coordinating job postings. Responsible for timely maintenance, update, and posting of information to appropriate job boards and employment sites.
- Assists with entering salary adjustments, additional pay assignments, vacation, sick pay, and other payroll related data in preparation for payroll processing.
- Helps with coordinating annual Open Enrollment and answers questions related to benefit options and changes.
- Assists with the general administration of the company's employee benefits plan.
- Conduct New Hire Orientation and complete onboarding for all new hires in all systems (Paychex, other related spreadsheets)
- Assist with Worker's Compensation related issues including but not limited to reporting the claim, guiding the employee through the process, conducting follow up with employee, conducting investigation of the incident and escalating complex issues to the Chief HR Officer.
- Maintain standards of strict confidentiality with respect to all matters and documents.
- Performs administrative duties: answering HR phone calls, taking messages, sending, and receiving written correspondence, updating HR related spreadsheets accurately and timely.
- Ensure HR department expenses are paid in timely manner, creates Purchase Orders, obtains quotes, and submits payment requests to Accounts Payable.
- Support the audit activities and requests for information for TAP, ASI, and Loker Student Union.
- Manage Youth Abuse training and Defensive Driving Program activities.
- Assist in complying with audit document requests.
- Assists with ad hoc projects as they arise.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
The following describes the ideal experience and attributes a successful candidate will offer:
- At least 2 years of experience working in an HR department.
- Solid understanding of general HR compliance, Federal and California HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business administration, communications, or related field strongly preferred.
- Experience in Higher Education
- PHR or other HR Certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to relate to employees.
- Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Adobe, multiple HRIS, and other systems and software.
- Additional Requirements: Livescan fingerprints, and background clearance.
- Ability to work in a collaborative manner with TAP, the University, and the California State University System.
- Must have the ability to balance competing priorities and ensure timely and accurate work product.
- Must be a proactive HR professional with the ability to be a self starter.
- Demonstrated ability to remain up to date with HR trends, best practices, and systems.
