Position Title: Part-Time Advocate Supervisor
Responsible to: CASA Director
Purpose of Position:
The PT Advocate Supervisor is primarily responsible for the implementation of the Court Appointed Special Advocate program services in Riley County. This includes case management activities as well as the recruitment, training, and supervision of CASA volunteers.
Key Responsibility Area: Volunteer Recruitment and Training
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment and training activities.
- Publicize CASA program (flyers, PSA, newspaper articles).
- Screen and interview all prospective volunteers.
- Schedule, coordinate and attend all training and in-service classes, acting as moderator and/or presenter.
- Assist with development of the CASA training manual as well as other training materials.
Key Responsibility Area: Case Management
- Coordinate, document and channel all CASA requests until resolution.
- Match CASA case with appropriate volunteers (in consultation with the Executive Director.)
- Initiate orders for assignment of volunteers to case and distribute filed copies to all parties.
- Initiate orders to rescind a CASA from a case after consultation with the Executive Director.
- Consult with each CASA volunteer about problems or concerns and offer suggestions as to an appropriate course of action.
- Assist volunteers in preparing court reports. File completed reports after approval by the Executive Director, and distribute copies to interested parties.
- Ensure that copies of all court orders and reports are maintained in CASA office and are made available to the CASA volunteer assigned.
- Maintain appropriate documentation in case files.
- Attend all court hearings with the volunteer assigned.
- Maintain appropriate communication with other Court personnel, and representatives of DCF, DCF Contracting Agencies and other agencies involved in cases. Coordinate activities with the CASA volunteer.
- Attend Case Planning Conferences as necessary. (especially when the CASA volunteer assigned is unavailable.)
Key Responsibility Area: Volunteer Supervision
- Make weekly contact with all newly assigned volunteers for at least 60 days.
- Oversee the completion of Volunteer Monthly Report forms; ensuring that the CASA office receives a monthly written report from each volunteer.
- Provide assistance and consultation as needed and when requested by CASA volunteers.
- At a minimum, provide annual evaluations to CASA volunteers on their performance.
- Maintain necessary and appropriate volunteer records. This contains annual evaluations, background checks, application forms, questionnaire, three written references
- Schedule, publicize, and attend volunteer support meetings/in-service trainings.
Key Responsibility Area: General Duties
- General office management and administrative tasks.
- Assist in the planning of volunteer appreciation events.
- Complete appropriate documentation as required.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Requirements:
- Education and Experience –
Baccalaureate degree and one year experience managing volunteers preferred. Any combination of education and life experience, which would demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities, needed to perform the duties of the position. Experience in social service agency, volunteer organization, or court related environment with experience recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers preferred.
In addition to the above-mentioned minimum requirements, an employee must possess reliable transportation, appropriate vehicle insurance, and a valid driver’s license.

- Ability to relate in a non-judgmental manner and maintain an independent role with individuals and groups within a wide spectrum of problem areas;
- Ability to manage people and to maintain professional standards for the program including confidentiality;
- Ability to organize, plan, and implement activities appropriate to further program goals;
- Good oral and written communication, observation, behavior documentation, and community liaison skills.
Be at least twenty-one years of age;
Successful completion of the following; (1) KBI Criminal Records Check; (2) DCF Child Abuse & Neglect Registry Check; (3) Offender Registration Check.
Provision of three professional references from persons unrelated to the applicant
Completion of a personal interview

Part-time (status dependent upon available funding)
$16-$17 per hour
