ABOUT THE ANNENBERG FOUNDATION
The Annenberg Foundation is a family foundation founded by Walter H. Annenberg providing funding and support to nonprofit organizations in the United States and globally. The Foundation and its Board of Directors are also directly involved in the community through innovative projects that advance public well-being, spark new ideas, and spread knowledge.
The Annenberg Foundation believes in funding organizations that have a deep level of community involvement, are led by effective leaders and tackle challenging and timely problems. Specific organizational attributes valued by the Foundation are: visionary leadership, impact, sustainability, innovation, organizational strength, network of partnerships plus the population being served.
Over the past 20 years, under the leadership of Wallis Annenberg, the Annenberg Foundation made significant contributions to the social fabric of Los Angeles. This has included the Annenberg Community Beach House, a public beachfront destination open to all; Annenberg Space for Photography, a cultural destination dedicated to exhibiting photography; restoring a historic Beverly Hills post office building into The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts; partnering with former Mayor Garcetti to launch PledgeLA, a first of its kind initiative to promote civic engagement, and access to capital across the city’s tech sector; and GenSpace, a community space in Koreatown dedicated to older adults and the study of purposeful aging.
Additionally, the Annenberg Foundation Community Grantmaking program (CGM) has supported critical areas of need for nonprofits, including disaster relief, across the Greater Los Angeles community for over 15 years.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, the Annenberg Foundation stewards an endowment that has grown to $1.4 billion, and the 2023 combined operating and philanthropic budget was $82 million.

CULTURE
The Annenberg Foundation is an equal opportunity employer committed to the core values of communication, innovation, diversity, responsiveness, and accessibility. The team’s wide range of experiences, backgrounds and perspectives is a critical asset to the culture of the Annenberg Foundation.
BACKGROUND
In 2020, CGM was designated as the Annenberg Foundation COVID-19 emergency fund, responding to critical community needs resulting from the global pandemic. CGM deployed over 200 COVID-19-related grants totaling almost $8 million to provide essential protective equipment, relief aid, and non-profit operating support in the community. Particular focus was given to the region's food insecurity, learning loss, and the impact of physical distancing. CGM continued to respond to the lingering impacts until the Summer of 2023 when the emergency declarations of the pandemic were removed by the World Health Organization, the White House, and the State of California. Since that time, CGM has continued to support the local community while undergoing a strategic review. The stage is now set for a new leader to take CGM and strategies and programs into the future.
