Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead our R&D projects and contribute to the continuous advancement of our sensor technologies. As the Project Manager in the Research and Development department focused on Flow and Temperature Sensors, you will be instrumental in managing the end-to-end lifecycle of projects aimed at developing and improving our sensor technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, and designers to drive projects from conception to commercialization, ensuring successful execution within defined timelines and budgets.

This position resides in the ifm Malvern manufacturing facility, which designs and manufactures temperature and flow sensor products. This role is key to the greater ifm’s manufacturing success in the United States.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management: Plan, execute, monitor, and successfully deliver complex R&D projects within scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams comprising researchers, engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration, effective communication, and cross-functional coordination.
Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, defining project scope, goals, deliverables, tasks, resource requirements, and timelines. Ensure alignment with overall R&D and organizational strategies.
Risk Management: Identify potential project risks, issues, and obstacles and develop proactive mitigation strategies. Monitor risks throughout the project lifecycle and take necessary actions to minimize their impact.
Progress Tracking: Implement robust project tracking and reporting mechanisms. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status, milestones achieved, and any deviations from the plan.
Change Management: Facilitate smooth change management by effectively communicating changes, managing stakeholder expectations, and ensuring buy-in for project adjustments.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including project plans, schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and lessons learned.
Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the R&D department by identifying areas for optimization, streamlining workflows, and implementing best practices.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, science, business administration) or relevant certifications (PMP, PRINCE2) preferred.
Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex R&D projects from initiation to completion
Understanding of research and development processes, methodologies, and best practices.
Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced R&D environment.
Proficiency in project management tools and software for planning, scheduling, and tracking is preferred.
Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Experience in risk assessment and mitigation strategies within the context of project management.
Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance standards related to R&D projects.
