The Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) is a modern manufacturing facility that occupies a 17-acre site at the Philadelphia Navy Yard with more than 750,000 square feet of industrial and administrative floor space. NFPC employs a highly skilled and versatile workforce of engineers, trades people and support personnel who specialize in advanced engineering, castings, and precision machining.

Job Description
The interdisciplinary engineer in the Process Improvement and Innovation Branch (PI) is responsible for managing projects, facilitating events, and educating the workforce in NAVSEA Lean Six Sigma methodologies. The PI team supports technological advancement, process improvement, innovation, data analysis, and leadership growth to promote a more efficient and successful mission. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Defines, measures, analyzes, improves, and controls high-level projects in a production environment with minimal technical and supervisory direction.
Prepares documentation and data analysis (reports, procedures, databases, trend analysis).
Serves as a project engineer on both small and large projects that can involve all levels at the facility. This includes coordinating efforts with other departments to ensure communication continuity.
Facilitates technical discussions, supports engineering decisions, and coordinates with senior leadership to identify improvement initiatives to target process constraints and critical path barriers.
Coaches and guides the workforce through improvement initiatives using Change Management.
Manages tactical and strategic improvements at the system and process level.
Utilizes technology, such as computer programming, data querying, and task automation, to support process improvement.
Knows, understands, utilizes, and teaches NAVSEA Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Qualifications Required for the Position
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. Area of expertise should reside in industrial, manufacturing, systems, computer science, or equivalent.
Experience and professional training in engineering techniques and Lean Six Sigma specifically designed to improve performance in an organization's capability to achieve overarching goals.
Wide range of engineering theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods sufficient to formulate, advise on, and explain recommendations or solutions to modify standard practices, equipment, processes, and techniques.
Knowledge of and practical expertise in using Microsoft 365 Power Applications, Teams, and other standard Microsoft applications.
Project Management and Change Management experience.
Strong communication skills, tactful in dealing with other people and the ability to make or recommend impartial decisions based on facts.
General knowledge of manufacturing processes.
Security Clearance / Background Check required. Your candidacy is subject to approval and acceptance.
