Job description
To perform accurate and timely preparation of all prescription orders, including new, refill and intravenous orders under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist. Maintain stock, supplies, and infusion pumps.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. IV emergency kits maintenance, tracking, and restocking
2. Cleaning and maintenance of pumps returned from facilities. Maintain record keeping, complete daily pump log and match signatures of receipt from facilities. Log outgoing and incoming IV pumps.
3. Maintain preventative maintenance on pumps: Monitor stickers on pumps if due for yearly maintenance and repair.
4. Stage, and label all completed products compounded such as IV-Piggyback, Hydration fluid, TPN, Pain management. Verify all NDC#s and document correct lot #s in the compounding record. Send necessary supplies needed for Peripheral, Central, Port A Cath, Groshong, PICC line. Forward finished products to IV Pharmacist for final review and approval.
5. Monthly check expiration dates of the following: IV antibiotics, refrigerated medications and hydration fluids.
6. Replenish IV supplies inside the staging, ante, and compounding room daily
7. Monitor and record temperatures and Maghelic readings as dictated by policy and procedures
8. Maintenance of compounding equipment as dictated by policy and procedure
9. Maintain strict attention to detail in prescription filling duties.
10. Maintain productivity and accuracy standards for work completed
11. Compound using <797> & <800> aseptic techniques
12. Communicate well with nurses, physicians and affiliates.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum requirements include education and experience equivalent to completion of High School and pharmacy technician training. Minimal experience or just graduated acceptable at this level.
2. Must be 18 years of age.
3. Must be certified as a pharmacy technician as required by state regulations.
4. Previous experience as a IV technician preferred
5. Knowledge of <797> & <800> aseptic compounding
5. Knowledge of medical terminology and brand/generic medications required.
6. Must be capable of handling a high volume of work with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Differential pay is offered for qualifying shifts.
SHIFT SCHEDULE:
Organization is 24 hours.
Shift flexibility, (5) 8 hour rotating shifts between 7:30am - 12:00am Monday to Friday and 10:00am - 6:30pm Saturday/Sunday.
