This position ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions. The Director of Finance also oversees the payroll function.

Job Summary:
The Director of Finance position is responsible for all accounting functions throughout The New Jewish Home (TNJH) Health System. Responsibilities include maximizing the return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. This position ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions. The Director of Finance also oversees the payroll function.
Job Duties:
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Protects assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
- Works with CFO to improve efficiency in the Finance department.
- Provides actionable recommendations to CFO to improve the financial position of TNJH system.
- Provides status of financial condition of the organization by collecting, interpreting and reporting key financial data.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports. Advises management of actions and potential risks.
- Arranges and manages audits as required and appropriate.
- Manages budget and controls expenses effectively.
- Hires, trains, develops and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
- Keeps up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
- Analyzes all financial records, reports and budget.
- Effectively interacts with DOH and HUD.
- Maintains, updates and recommends financial and operational policy and procedure changes as needed.
- Effectively coordinates and integrates and interdepartmental service.
- Monitors department employee’s orientation, training and education.
- Prepares financial and regulatory reports and forecasts in a timely and accurate manner.
- Evaluates financial assumptions, depreciation rates, estimates and budgets in a prudent manner.

Qualifications:
- BS in accounting with a Master’s degree or MBA.
- CPA is a plus.
- At least five years of accounting management experience at an integrated health system
Specialized Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in MS Office Products and Accounting software packages
- Has a deep/large bandwidth
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, vendors, clients and financial institutions.
- Ability to establish and implement policies, procedures, practices and controls, as well as train and supervise staff
- Ability to critically evaluate data and resolve problems
- Knowledge of financial systems and procedures, tax codes and regulatory and legal financial reporting requirements, and cost reports
