JOB TITLE: Physician Liaison
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
GENERAL FUNCTION
To support the efforts of the operations department to increase patient volume, visibility, and provider outreach. The Physician Liaison is responsible for implementing relevant outreach plans and efforts to market clinical services to providers within their designated territory, with the goal of growing and developing referrals to Salish Cancer Center. This includes spending most of their week in the region, meeting with providers, clinical managers, and nurses at health care systems within their territory. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent should expect to be traveling 3-4 days a week, including overnight stays. The liaison will set up meetings/events that include driving local providers into the region to participate in these activities. The position primarily focuses on building relationships through educating regional providers on prespecified, targeted areas of focus, to increase referral volumes and meet the needs of referring providers. The liaison will also attend internal meetings to meet new providers and/or learn about strategic initiatives that they will promote in the region.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Referral Outreach (75%)
- Educate patients, referring providers and other referral sources on the services and amenities provided at Salish Cancer Center
- Travel the surrounding Tacoma, Lakewood and Gig Harbor areas (not limited to these jurisdictions) to perform referring clinic drop-ins, schedule meetings and develop contacts and referral sources.
- Obtain comprehensive knowledge of the organization’s markets including key referral sources and patients.
- Represent Salish Cancer Center in community outreach events such as patient-centered fundraising programs, Regional Provider Meetings, Tumor Boards, and open houses at local provider offices.
- Increase brand awareness for Salish Cancer Center
- Identify opportunities for partnering and growth.
- Maintain contact with referring clinics by phone and email.
- Drive patient volume and patient loyalty through community outreach and marketing plans.
- Partner with Native outreach coordinators to strengthen alliance with Tribe and Native Community.
Marketing Responsibility (25%)
- Create and implement print and digital advertising campaigns.
- Monitor and manage the operational campaigns.
- Design, order and distribute marketing materials on behalf of the practice.
- Increase search engine optimization and overall online presence and reputation for Salish Cancer Center
- Oversee routine social media outreach (on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube), to increase Salish Cancer Center’s audience and community reputation.
- Create and deliver press releases, media relations content, bios, and proposals with accuracy and polished final outcomes.
- Manage philanthropic giving and sponsorships.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain the Salish Cancer Center website, including content, formatting, updated postings, blogs, and interactive features for patients and referring providers.
- Manage video and photo content.
- Provide excellent and professional customer service in face-to-face and virtual interactions with all community members, employees, and patients, representing Salish Cancer Center and the mission of the entity to all.
- Assist Event Committee with the purpose of boosting employee morale.
- Other administrative duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Public Relations, or a closely related field preferred. Two (2) years’ experience in healthcare marketing preferred. Interested candidates will be asked to provide writing samples and portfolio samples of graphic design, promotional flyers, and/or website design examples from past roles.
