This role reports to the Manager, Technical Writing and eLearning.
Responsibilities
- Write, Edit, and Publish high-quality documentation, including User Guides, Admin Guides, Context-Sensitive Online Help, Release Notes, Installation Guides, Upgrade Guides, API Documentation, and other related customer-facing documentation as required utilizing MS Word, MadCap Flare, Java, and Python for web development functionality of online documentation.
- Work with Product Managers, Release Managers, and Software Engineers (Subject Matter Experts (SME)) to develop technical documentation content for new products and existing product releases.
- Work with SMEs for documentation reviews and revisions, as needed.
- Research and test new and existing product functionality while creating and editing documentation content.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7-8 years of writing technical documentation experience.
- Proficiency using MadCap Flare or similar authoring/content management tool.
- Interest in learning new technology.
- Aptitude for interviewing SMEs and installing/using software products.
- Experience delivering context-sensitive online help and technical guides.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented and possess excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Familiarity with version control systems.
- Ability to collaborate in a global team environment, proactively engage SMEs, and follow through on commitments.
- Drive to dive in and be hands-on with the software to understand not just how it works, but why it matters to the people using it.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with MS Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, and MadCap Flare.
- Experience with Java, Python, and other development languages.
- Experience working in an Agile SDL environment.
- Experience with PLM, ERP, or PDM software a plus.
