We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labour and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide exceptional care to mothers and their newborns during the labour and delivery process. The RN will work collaboratively with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and positive childbirth experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers during labour, delivery, and postpartum stages.
- Assessment: Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients to monitor and document their progress.
- Monitoring: Monitor fetal heart rates, maternal vital signs, and contractions, and interpret data to ensure the wellbeing of both mother and baby.
- Interventions: Administer medications and perform interventions as prescribed by the physician, including IV therapy, epidural administration, and pain management.
- Support: Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families throughout the childbirth process.
- Collaboration: Work closely with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to plan and implement patient care plans.
- Documentation: Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies, such as preterm labour, preeclampsia, or postpartum hemorrhage, following established protocols.
- Postpartum Care: Assist with newborn care immediately after birth, including Apgar scoring, administering medications, and facilitating bonding and breastfeeding.
- Education: Educate patients and families about postpartum care, newborn care, and any follow-up appointments or procedures.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) .
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS certifications required; NRP and AWHONN fetal monitoring certification preferred.
- Skills: Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills; ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
