The Lawrenceburg Police Department is seeking a Part Time Police Clerk. This position will be primarily weekends and holidays, working hours will vary.
The Police Clerk performs duties that are related to general office skills, along with gathering information for public use concerning several functions of the law enforcement field. The Police Clerk works at the discretion of the Chief of Police. Duties include answering telephone, retrieving and sending faxes, assist the public in taking complaints and information, make copies of various reports per request, receipt and log payments of parking tickets, update and file arrest records, type and file accident, case, and incident reports, maintain all office forms and supplies, maintain and file all gun permits, maintain all files on computer.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Must hold a current Operator Driver’s License. Must possess knowledge of Law Enforcement work.
Must maintain a standard of professional presentation in representing the Police Department. Must be able to communicate effectively with both Officers of LPD and outside departments, citizens, and other City employees’. Must follow Police Department SOP’s. Must be able to communicate with the public in situations which are highly emotional or hostile. Must has working knowledge of business, educational, civic, and social organizations in the community. Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to perform basic typing functions and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must understand and use basic filing systems, have a working knowledge of multi-line phone system and intercom, and a working knowledge of fax and copy machines.
