Environmental Manager Position Overview
The Environmental Manager is responsible for managing the wastewater treatment system, the waste disposal (including hazardous waste) system and maintaining records and submitting reports meditated by State and Federal regulations. These regulations include RCRA, NPDES, and SWPPP. The Environmental Manager is also responsible for approval of chemicals used in the plant and any efforts involved in reduction of hazardous waste. This includes oversight of all OSHA, EPA, and DHS requirements.
Environmental Manager Essential Functions
- Oversees the operation of waste treatment system and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Fills out all mandatory State and Federal reports, manifest, keep all manifest on file.
- Supervision of the wastewater treatment facility and compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System [NPDES] permit.
- Supervision of the disposal and reduction of hazardous waste as mandated by 40 CFR, Hazardous Waste Management System under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act [RCRA].
- Submission of annual Federal mandated reports (Tier II, Form R, Form GM).
- Submission of monthly State mandated reports (e-DMR, SWPPP).
- Entering environmental data into the e plan system.
- Approval of all new incoming chemicals & keeping MSDS database current.
Environmental Manager Required Experience
- Must know how to use a computer and Excel spread sheets.
- EPA Training on Toxic Release Inventory TRI report.
- Understanding Issues in Storm Water Regulations.
- RCRA training on disposal of hazardous materials.
- Understand NPDES permit requirements.
Environmental Manager Physical Demands and Work Environment
- This position requires you to be onsite daily.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite. + Excellent interpersonal.
- Influencing skills to establish trust, credibility, and rapport at all levels of the organization; seen as humble, direct, and authentic while possessing professional presence.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The employee can be exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds.
