Job Title: Case Worker
Looking for a challenge while giving back to society during this time of stress to most Americans? Provide human services to East and Southeast Asian and other immigrants as well as other needy families in the northeast Chicago port of entry. Position requires understanding of Asian cultures and patience/ empathy with clients whose education, English, and knowledge of American culture is limited. This position will involve identifying available resources and helping needy clients to apply for needed services as well as outreaching, record keeping, reporting to and interacting with funders, etc. Accuracy is of the essence to assure clients’ access to programs. Written and spoken English and Cantonese required to provide services to limited-English Cantonese speaking clients. Most importantly, a genuine caring for people with sensitivity for others would round out the perfect applicant for this position.
Full Time; paid holidays/personal/sick/vacation days; $200/month bonus; training opportunities, working in a beautiful historic landmark.
Qualifications in Sum: B.A. in social work or social sciences, high degree of fluency in Cantonese and English; strong communication/writing/bureaucratic skills as well as work and life experience.
