About The Role
We are seeking a motivated, goal-oriented software engineer to dive deep into backend development. You will design, build, and scale backend solutions that support and integrate with various property management and lending applications. Your role is pivotal in ensuring performance, security, and reliability for our customers. In this position, you'll have the opportunity to profoundly shape our engineering culture, service delivery, and outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend systems for scalability and robustness.
- Optimize systems for reliability, speed, and stability with a focus on reusability.
- Improve code quality, unit testing, and code review.
- Collaborate with the frontend team to build and maintain APIs that support a seamless user experience.
- Ensure secure and efficient management of financial data with a focus on data security and privacy.
- Facilitate data exploration and insight from existing and new data sets.
- Evaluate and interpret data layers for risk assessment and optimization.
- Stay updated on industry trends and bring new ideas to the table.
- Be a proactive participant in fostering engineering culture and refining processes.
- Play a key role in the technological evolution of our rapidly growing startup.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in developing and scaling backend software solutions.
- Proficiency in Ruby on Rails or similar backend frameworks.
- Clear and effective communication with both technical and non-technical team members.
- Comprehensive understanding of relational database design, querying, and optimization.
- Ability to write, test, launch, debug, and maintain production-quality code.
- Proficiency in system design, weighing trade-offs in scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- A strong desire and proven ability to cater to customer needs and address real-world problems.
- Ability to collaborate on overlapping areas of responsibility within the team and organization.

Application Process
Our process includes four phases:
- An introductory call with a member of the engineering team.
- A technical interview with the engineering team.
- One on one meetings with our VP of Product and our CEO to discuss the company, get to know you, and ensure a culture fit.
- An onsite meeting to connect in person with members of the team.
Requirements
- Must be able to work in the USA
- Quarterly travel within the USA for in-person company offsites, paid for by the company
- Onsite interview meeting at the end of the application process
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
