This position supports the clinical activities of all clinics in Ross Hall, as well as nurse training and support for CSLCs. This position is the consultant for all SOPs and regulations that pertain to infection control, medical emergencies and quality assurance that deals with clinical care. While many different dental procedures may be performed, the majority of procedures the nurse will support are surgical in nature: oral surgery including extractions of erupted and impacted teeth, periodontal surgery, implant surgery, the use of a microscope of complex endodontic procedures, and intravenous conscious sedation. This position will ensure patient safety by monitoring pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative sedation and non-sedation patients, and will ensure the clinic is adequately supplied with emergency medical equipment, supplies and emergency and routine medications. This position will manage and track sedation and controlled substances. This position will also be responsible for assisting in the proper documentation of care and for providing information for quality assurance audits and other reports and in the maintenance and tracking of surgical instruments and equipment. At times, this position may be required to assist clinicians, provide ancillary support during procedures, work with clinicians in a proactive fashion to ensure complete preparation for scheduled procedures, and other tasks necessary to ensure safe and productive clinic operations.
