Job Summary:
As a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting patients to and from medical appointments, dialysis treatments, rehabilitation sessions, and other healthcare-related destinations.
Your primary objective is to ensure that patients reach their destinations on time and in a comfortable, courteous, and safe manner.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate and maintain a designated NEMT vehicle, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Assist patients in boarding and disembarking the vehicle, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, including courteous and respectful communication at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior, ensuring a hygienic environment for passengers.
- Follow prescribed routes and schedules, while also being flexible to accommodate any unexpected changes or delays.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and coordinators to report any issues, delays, or changes in schedule.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Assist patients with mobility aids and equipment as needed, ensuring their safe transport.
- Monitor and address any potential safety hazards during transportation, such as inclement weather or road conditions.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in transportation, preferably in a healthcare or NEMT setting. (We Provide Paid Training)
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to lift and maneuver patients with mobility aids, as required.
- Familiarity with local roadways and traffic patterns.
- Willingness to undergo background checks and drug screenings as required by regulations and company policy.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
