Mackinac Straits Health System is searching for a TALENTED and PASSIONATE RN NURSE MANAGER to join our team in our Long Term Care community. Some of the RN Nurse Manager's responsibilities include:
- Oversees all Nurses and CNA’s for Evergreen Living Center; Conducts informal discipline on the units and assists in the formal disciplinary process
- Identifies employee training needs, plans resident care, assigns/directs work, addresses complaints and resolves concerns
- Participates in employee performance appraisal process and conducts med pass audit evaluations for nurses
- Conducts/assists with investigations of issues or complaints within the LTC Unit
- Establishes and monitors standards of nursing care in LTC by working with individual staff, managers, committees and task forces.
- Works with the physicians and other medical staff to assess condition of residents, devise individual health care plan and see that it is implemented according to the MDS process.
- Plans, implements and evaluates quality of nursing care for residents.
- Makes daily rounds (obtaining reports on resident conditions, skin assessments, assessing residents as needed).
- Identifies problem areas and recommends changes and solutions.
- Initiates, implements and evaluates policies and procedures related to resident care.
- Conveys resident and family concerns to Inter-disciplinary team.
- Completes all admissions and assures that admission paperwork is completed.
- Develops, reviews and revises care plans according to the MDS process.
- Assesses all residents in emergency situations.
- Reviews resident charts, MARs and monthly lab orders for accuracy as needed.
- Identifies quality assurance issues, initiates and monitors corrective interventions.

- Qualifications
- Must be a team player able to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Flexibility and positive attitude is a must. Various work schedules required.
- Exemplary attendance record.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- R.N. licensure required.
- A.C.L.S. certification required; 3 month window offered to complete the certification class.
- Knowledge of the M.D.S. process is preferred.
- 1-3 years Long Term Care experience is required.
- Participates in on call rotation
