Job Overview
Dalan Animal Health is seeking an experienced and highly motivated team member to perform a variety of routine and specialized immunoassay (ELISA) procedures, sample preparations, and experimental procedures for the purpose of research and testing. The individual will assist in the use of specialized laboratory ELISA equipment and analysis of data generated by this equipment. They will utilize ELISA and other immune-based assay methods for vaccine potency testing and research.
Responsibilities:
- Design, qualify, and validate immunoassays.
- Perform experimental analysis of completed assays.
- Create, modify, and improve SOPs, Validation Protocols, Sample Analysis Reports, etc.
- Operate and troubleshoot integrated and stand-alone laboratory equipment (e.g., plate readers, plate washers) to support ELISA assay workflows.
- Learn about assays and advance knowledge relevant to vaccine development.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the department and on multi-disciplinary discovery project teams to shape and execute ELISA assay strategies aligned with project and departmental goals.
- Work in a BSL1/BSL2 research environment, adhering to all laboratory safety requirements.
- Utilize industry-standard data analysis tools and maintain accurate records (lab books, analysis software) to document and report experimental findings and assay protocols.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn new assay techniques.
- Stay updated with regulatory requirements, evolution, and changes as they occur in major regions (US/EU).
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ELISA plate readers, plate washers, and other laboratory equipment for vaccine development and routine testing using ELISA assays.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align ELISA assay strategies with project goals.
- Comply with laboratory safety requirements in a BSL1/BSL2 lab environment.
- Document and report experimental findings using industry-standard data analysis tools.
- Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization of the lab by washing glassware, taking inventory, troubleshooting lab equipment, and assisting with sample preparation and analysis.
- Assist Dalan Scientists to maintain daily operations including administrative duties.
- Place orders and monitor inventory.
- Enter data into Microsoft Excel, Word documents, experimental batch records, and a laboratory notebook.
- Provide experimental coverage as needed, which may occasionally include evenings or weekends.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Experience working in a BSL1/BL2 research environment.
- Proficiency in microplate-based ELISA or cell-based assays.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively and independently within a multi-disciplinary team.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Familiarity with operating and troubleshooting ELISA plate readers, plate washers, and related data analysis software.
- Experience with Relative Potency Assays.
- Previous involvement in sample management and ELISAs or other immune assay instrumentation.
- Preferably experienced in developing and analyzing immunoassays within a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) compliant laboratory environment.
Qualifications:
- BS/MS in a life sciences discipline or related engineering field (e.g., Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering) with at least 2 years of experience.
- Experience working in a BL2 research environment.
- Proficiency in microplate-based ELISA assays or cell-based assays.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently in a multi-disciplinary environment and thrive in a team setting.
Approximate Hours/Week:
- May require work or travel on weekends
