The Dance Center is looking for experienced individuals with a passion for teaching dance with a strong focus in strength and technique. At TDC, we are proud to provide high quality dance training in all styles and genres from beginner to pre professional levels. We are looking for teachers who are open to continuing many seasons with us if the fit is right! These positions also have the possibility of including competition choreography in the future if desired.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct dance classes for students of various ages and skill levels (Specifically Ballet but also including Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Contemporary, Modern, Creative Movement and/or Combo classes for ages 2-18)
- Teach dance with strong emphasis on proper technique and strength
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their skills
- Create a positive, encouraging and inclusive learning environment for all students
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe and respectful atmosphere
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff members to coordinate performances and events
- Choreograph a 2 minute piece for each class to perform in the end of year recital and other performances as required
Qualifications:
- Previous experience teaching Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Modern and/or Hip Hop
- Strong knowledge of dance techniques, styles, and terminology
-Strong knowledge of human anatomy and how it works in dance
- Dance degree or previous professional performance experience/training is required
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and engage students in learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies for working with children and young adults
- Familiarity with lesson planning and curriculum development
- Background in early childhood education or special education is beneficial but not required
