Position Overview:
The Orthotic Lab Fabrication Technician is responsible for the creation, modification, and repair of orthotic devices. This role requires technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality products that meet the specific needs of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fabrication:
- Construct custom orthotic devices based on specifications provided by Doctor.
- Utilize various materials (plastics, composites) and techniques to fabricate orthoses.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery to cut, shape, and assemble orthotic components.
2. Modification and Repair:
- Modify existing orthotic devices to ensure optimal fit and function.
- Perform repairs on orthotic devices as needed, ensuring durability and comfort.
- Ensure all modifications and repairs meet quality standards and patient specifications.
3. Quality Control:
- Inspect orthotic devices for quality and accuracy during and after fabrication.
- Adhere to established quality control procedures and standards.
- Document any issues or deviations from quality standards and take corrective actions as necessary.
- Technical Support:
- Assist orthotists with technical aspects of device design and fabrication.
- Provide input on material selection and fabrication techniques to achieve desired outcomes.
- Stay updated on advancements in orthotic technology and fabrication methods.
4. Inventory Management:
- Maintain inventory of materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Track usage of materials and report shortages to the Orthotic Lab Manager.
- Ensure all materials are stored properly to prevent damage and maintain quality.
6. Health and Safety:
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Report any safety concerns or incidents to the Orthotic Lab Manager immediately.
7. Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of fabrication processes, modifications, and repairs.
- Complete required documentation for each orthotic device fabricated or modified.
- Ensure records are up-to-date and easily accessible for review.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in orthotic fabrication or related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in orthotic fabrication or a related field.
Skills:
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of orthotic materials and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment:
- The Orthotic Lab Fabrication Technician will work in a laboratory setting, which may involve exposure to dust, chemicals, and noise.
- Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed.
The role may require standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
