Job Description
Job Title: Shelter Advocate
Reports To: DV Operations Director
Employment Status: Non-exempt. Hourly. Full-time, potential for mandatory overtime.
Purpose/Objective: To oversee daily shelter activities, assist clients with their needs as described in this job description and perform tasks as delegated by the Shelter Manager and DV Operations Director.
Responsibilities
1. Oversee shelter activities and supervise and assist clients and their children with daily tasks, including but not limited to meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, and transportation using the LCCADV van. Night shelter advocates are responsible for assisting clients as needed.
2. Answer the domestic violence crisis line and provide appropriate crisis line assistance.
3. Perform client intake and inform clients of policies, rules, and guidelines.
4. Be responsible for collecting and maintaining client data from intake so that it can be submitted to the Program Manager and Executive Director for analysis and reporting.
5. Maintain shelter safety and security by conducting routine shelter checks, educating clients about shelter safety policies, and ensuring that safety policies are being followed.
6. Communicate enthusiasm, encouragement, and support to clients, demonstrate professional behavior and maintain professional boundaries with clients as well as other employees.
7. Accept donations, provide donation receipts, oversee volunteers, and document volunteer work projects and hours.
8. Participate in all required LCCADV-specific continuing education and training.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week

- On call
- Weekends as needed
