Qualifications and Competencies
A minimum of two years of work experience as a Rapid Rehousing Navigator is required and experience using the HMIS system and similar data systems such as CaseWorthy, FYI, HUD Exchange, etc.
Must have experience in Public Housing Sector; Permanent Supportive Housing (i.e. Emergency Housing, Rapid Rehousing, and ReEntry Housing Program)
Position Overview and Job Duties
Repaid Rehousing Navigator
Repaid Rehousing Navigator plays a crucial role in providing support and guidance to individuals and families who are in need of stable housing solutions due to experiencing homelessness or housing instability. This role involves assessing clients' needs, connecting them with appropriate resources, and guiding them through the process of securing and maintaining housing. The ultimate goal is to empower clients to achieve long-term housing stability and self-sufficiency:
Client Assessment:
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients' housing needs, including factors such as income, family size, special needs, and preferences.
Resource Referral:
- Identify and connect clients with relevant resources and services, such as affordable housing programs, rental assistance, financial counseling, and supportive services.
Housing Search Assistance:
- Assist clients in searching for suitable housing options based on their preferences and eligibility criteria, including conducting housing searches, scheduling viewings, and coordinating with landlords or property managers.
Application Assistance:
- Guide clients through the application process for housing programs and rental units, including completing paperwork, gathering necessary documentation, and advocating on behalf of clients when needed.
- Provide ongoing support and advocacy to clients throughout the housing process, including addressing barriers and challenges, advocating for their rights, and connecting them with additional services as needed.
Education and Empowerment:
- Educate clients about their rights and responsibilities as tenants, budgeting and financial management skills, and other topics relevant to maintaining housing stability.
Data Tracking and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, services provided, and outcomes achieved, and prepare regular reports for program evaluation and funding purposes. Follow up with upper management and case managers throughout the process to assure accuracy, proper time management, and efficiency to all clients.
The Repaid Rehousing Navigator role demands a blend of leadership, housing expertise, housing navigating skills, and a deep understanding of the complex challenges individuals or families face in securing and maintaining stable housing.
