Position Overview
The primary function of this role includes providing support to outside sales reps by building rapport and maintaining customer relationships, following through on customer POs, and ensuring inventory is stocked as required, including purchasing. The sales desk receives inbound customer orders but also grows the business by actively upselling and promoting.
Responsibilities
- Actively sell and service existing accounts via phone and email
- Prospect and develop new, exciting business relationships
- Learn about and promote new product lines.
- Work for and with outside sales staff
- Purchasing and inventory management
- Understand each customer's needs to provide real, effective solutions
- Deliver exceptional customer service
- Professionally quote rates
- Provide customers with professional recommendations on options as well as pricing and availability data to meet customers' needs
- Process orders in a timely manner
- Work to continually advance self knowledge of products
- Manage and maintain appropriate stock levels for the area programs
Operations
- Logistics, routing daily delivery trucks, inbound/outbound freight.
- Purchasing responsibilities
- Attend to system/policy oversights (marked in stock, contact pricing, price lists etc.)
- Ensures overall efficiencies in all aspects of operations (product in, stored, pulled, shipped)
- Responsible for organization and storage sales documents. (orders, POD’s, etc.)
Warehouse
- Must work in a safe manner according to all safety and other company policies
- Verifying counts and identifying products to be stocked
- Tagging and stocking materials in warehouse
- Tallying lumber
- Forklift operation
- Requires both bulk handling as well as “piece pulls” – will require direct handling of lumber and plywood items

Reporting Relationships
This role reports to the Sales Manager
Pay range is $55,000 - $65,000 year
Qualifications
Post secondary education from a recognized institution
- Industry experience (preference for lumber industry)
- Experience in quoting, purchasing and inventory management
- Experience in Hardwoods product lines is beneficial
- Excellent communicator, good phone manner and email skills.
- Good math competency. Proficient with computers.
- Desire to work in a customer-centric sales role, excellent customer service skills and ability to upsell
- Strong follow up skills
- Problem solver, takes initiative, makes decision
- Good organizational and time management skills. Attention to detail
- Sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Positive, proactive and energetic attitude
- Ability to work well independently as well as being comfortable working with staff at all levels in the organization
