Certified Medical Assistant
JOB SUMMARY: Perform routine clinical and administrative duties under the direct supervision of the physician for a growing Vascular Surgeon in San Antonio.
A Medical Assistant, under direction of a physician, is to assist in the examination and treatment of patients. Interview the patient and measure vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height, and record information into the chart. The required information is not limited to that listed above, but chart requirements are dictated by the required fields in the software charting function. Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments and equipment. Initiate calls to other medical facilities to schedule patient for tests, if necessary.

Back Office Job Description/Duties
· Call in/fax prescriptions
· Call patients with medical results
· Make sure all labs/specimens are sent to the appropriate lab
· Proper charting including updating all required chart fields during patient appointment.
· Clean instruments
· Clean exam rooms
· Clean work area and patient waiting area
· Ensure office is ready for the start of business
· Before end of day, all out-going referrals and appointments completed for patients seen that day
· Scan Medical Correspondence for that day
Split Schedule: For clinic days, the primary clinic responsibilities are to be Medical Assistant, in the clinical support role as Administrative Medical Assistant, i.e. back office paperwork and phones. This includes the securing of revenue with the acquisitions of in-office service authorizations, precertifications, and/or referrals.
On non-clinic days, the Medical Assistant is assigned to front office tasks as needed, i.e. filing/cost estimates/Schedule Scrub.
1) Provide patients with exceptional service
2) Answer incoming telephone lines in accordance with company procedures, and direct the caller accordingly
3) File/scan paperwork, medical records, and other correspondence generated from treatment of patient for out-going referrals
4) Perform data entry function by entering client charges completely for all services provided
5) Maintain accurate maintenance log, inventory, and ordering of medical supplies.
6) Keep common areas neat and clean
7) Arrange/Schedule patients for out-going referrals/testing/procedures if ordered
8) Rooms patients within 15 minutes of scheduled appointment time or check in time. Only exception is late arriving patients who will be fit in as needed.
9) Performs other duties as requested or assigned as needed.
10) Proper charting, including updating all required chart fields during patient appointment.
11) Compile/submit requested medical records, first confirming HIPAA requirements are met (i.e. signed patient release, etc)
