Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team. As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to provide therapy services to patients in various settings. Your expertise will help individuals regain independence and improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the evaluation and assessment of patients' functional abilities
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on patients' individual needs
- Provide therapeutic interventions to improve patients' motor skills, coordination, balance, and strength
- Teach patients adaptive techniques and strategies to enhance their daily living skills
- Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
- Document patient progress and maintain accurate records
- Educate patients and their families on therapy goals, techniques, and home exercise programs
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of human physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology
- Familiarity with acute care settings and medical imaging procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to adapt treatment plans based on individual patient needs
- Knowledge of occupational health principles and practices
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA
- CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
