DEPARTMENT: Sales
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
Responsible for the sales performance of a region comprised of multiple points of contact for single or multiple customers. Manages the relationships, receives requests/inquiries from customers, and provides information and price quotations to customers. Partner with customer service to ensure the proper processing of sales orders and returns and coordinate with other departments until completion. Conducts “cold calls” with prospective clients and networks with current clients to build region and client base.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Extensive travel is required. Regional Sales Managers will be required to travel to client locations and meet directly with clients and prospects regularly.
- Conduct customer site reviews and follow-ups with customers and involve senior management where appropriate.
- Responsible for all product sales to customers, including collaboration with Customer Service to ensure successful supply-chain management and consistent or as-needed product delivery.
- Achieves and/or exceeds targeted sales goals as set by the company; success is predicated upon applying an ethical and honest approach to sales/business.
- Maintains an active and effective working knowledge of products supplied to customers, including performance and specifications, application of products in customers’ environment, and product troubleshooting.
- Responds immediately to customer inquiries/information needs and provides positive, courteous service to customers; answers questions regarding products, prices, delivery times, and customer service.
- Partners with purchasing on supplier issues and problem resolution. May be called upon to support new supplier identification and validation.
- Works with the VP of Sales and Controller to establish new customer accounts; assists customers in preparing and processing new customer paperwork, including credit requirements.
- Maintains industry awareness regarding customers, competition, products, and other sales trends.
- Submits sales activity and forecast reports to VP of Sales; provides briefings as necessary or requested.
- Prospects new clients daily and consistently increases regional sales totals and client base through new and residual sales
- Provides timely expense reporting, sales call activity, and opportunity tracking.
- May manage several Sales Representatives.
- Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing. Coordinates activities with various departments; works closely with Customers, Customer Service, Suppliers, Sales & Senior Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
A college degree (or equivalent experience) is required, and a major in business is preferred. Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people are essential. Possesses and demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving combined with the ability to enact appropriate and permanent process improvements. Six Sigma and ISO 9001 or equivalent experience preferred. Good leadership skills are required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
It is crucial to be able to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with customers, suppliers, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential.
Sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges are essential for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents. Must possess the ability to walk into customer facilities in a manufacturing environment.
No heavy lifting is expected, but occasional exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force may be required. Good manual dexterity is required for using common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculators, copiers, and FAX machines.
Good reasoning ability is required to solve a wide range of business problems. Must understand and utilize financial reports, product specifications, and legal documents to conduct business.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting and may involve some outdoor site visits and visits to manufacturing facilities. Activities include extended periods of walking and sitting and extensive work at a computer monitor and/or calculator.
