Job purpose
- The Community Literature Initiative (CLI) is seeking an Accountant / Accounts Manager to join our Accounting team. In this role, you will oversee, review, and adhere to the budgets for each branch of CLI (World Stage Press, CLI, and the Sims Library of Poetry), produce financial reports, and develop strategies and plans for the long-term financial goals of their organization.
- You will play a key role in the overall financial health of our organization. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will ensure the financials accurately reflect the operational needs of CLI. Come aboard to help clean up our books, develop accounting policy, and keep us going .
Duties and responsibilities
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Update and match transactions in Quickbooks, weekly
- Review various reports with Executive Director, bi-weekly
- Income and Sales reports
- Expenses report
- P&L Budget report
- Cash Flow forecast report
- Quickbooks match transaction report
- Trajectory analysis
- Approve payroll for staff members, bi-weekly
- Maintain and adjust financial budgets, monthly
- Pay bills, which may require setting up Auto-Pay, monthly
- Tax documents for employees, annually
- Taxes, annually
- QuickBooks Categorizations/Matching Transactions
- Bank Account Reconciliations
- Weekly Meetings
- Report Review
- Budgeting Accountability
- Financial Forecasting
- Can we afford this??? (Staff,Expenses)
- Manager Training on QB
- Royalties
Qualifications
The ideal candidate possesses the following:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Quickbooks, G Suite, Asana, and ability to learn additional software programs
- Experience with accounting policy, nonprofit accounting, and business
- Excellent command over analytical, organizational, and research skills
- Highly organized, self-motivated, team player mentality
- Bonus: interest in poetry and creative writing!
Working conditions
The Bookkeeper will work mostly remotely but is required to report to the Executive Director 10 hours a week.
