Global Atlantic is seeking an Associate responsible for completing a high volume of accounting, reporting and controls to support the strategic developments within the company, specifically related to scaling our investment accounting function in support of critical reinsurance counterparties and investors. Ability to process, understand, and analyze a high level of data from various sources is a must. Collaborating with multiple functions and departments to clearly identify the business need is a critical component of this role requiring excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and critical thinking. We expect this candidate to be an individual contributor reporting to the AVP of Investment Accounting, Reinsurance.
The role will offer exposure to multiple levels of management and GA functions, including Finance / Controllers, IT, Bermuda Finance, Investment Operations, and Institutional Markets. The role is critical in supporting Global Atlantic's responsiveness to reinsurance counterparties. All candidates must, in addition to possessing the specific qualifications cited below, work well within a complex, fast-paced, fluid environment, and have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Produce required Investment disclosure to support quarterly audited financials for multiple legal entities
- Research and improve monthly roll forward reports on 30-40 trusts
- Contribute to automation and process redesign projects, leveraging system tools (EDH data warehouse, Tableau, Python) to the greatest extent possible.
- Work closely with the reinsurance accounting team and the Bermuda finance team in support of management initiatives and regulatory requirements
- Support AVP in preparing for and executing new transactions
- Improve holdings and trust reporting analysis
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related. MBA, CFA, CPA or other technical licensure preferred.
- 5-8 years of relevant experience, public accounting a plus. Insurance or financial services experience preferred.
- Excellent computer skills, familiarity with tools such as Tableau, or other query tools
- Strong research and problem solving capabilities a must.
- Solid understanding of GAAP accounting principles. Familiarity with statutory, investments, reinsurance preferred.
- Familiarity with investment accounting systems (Clearwater) helpful.
- Pro-active, detail oriented, deadline driven, highly responsive to customer inquiries.
- Results oriented, flexible, self-motivated, and able to work in a team environment with limited direct supervision.
- Experience in successful process redesign.
- Solid written and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability to successfully handle competing priorities and multiple deliverables.
