At SDSP, Maintenance Techs have the opportunity to increase pay and position while gaining new skills. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting various issues to ensure the upkeep or repair of manufacturing equipment to keep the plant in peak operational status. The team works Monday - Friday 7am-3:30pm and share alternating on-call schedules. Primary Responsibilities
1. Has direct influence and control of plant efficiency by improving plant emergency downtime
2. Has direct influence and control of maintenance material and inventory
3. Maintains a clean shop and sanitary conditions
4. Participates in routine on-call schedule
5. Responsible for maintaining equipment and documentation
6. Perform duties outside normal responsibilities as needed to support the team and overall organizational goals.
7. Be a good steward of company resources
8. Comply with SDSP’s Safe Quality Food (SQF) food safety program and polices.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Effectively communicate with others by listening, speaking, and writing.
- Must possess a basic understanding of mechanical installation, including basic alignment of motors, sprockets and couplings; ability to perform basic gearbox repairs
- Must possess basic mechanical aptitude and tool practices
- Must have the ability to troubleshoot and identify basic maintenance problems within individual pieces of equipment
- Willingness to learn and apply proper techniques necessary for installation of bearing and seals
- Must have the ability to safely operate an acetylene torch
- Must have understanding of basic electrical safety.
- Must understand the safe operation and working knowledge of drag conveyors and screw conveyors
- Must be able to document through schematic drawings process changes
- Ability to weld with both a wire feed and stick welder preferred
- Must be able to diagnose plant operation problems as related to maintenance influences
- Perform duties outside normal responsibilities as needed to support the team and overall organizational goals.
Physical Requirements
Must Possess the Ability to Do the Following Frequently:
- Bend Squat Climb Ladders and Stairs
- Kneel Stand Walk
- Handle Objects Reach Above Shoulder Level Push/Pull
- Carry/Lift 25 – 50 lbs.
Must Possess the Ability to Do the Following Occasionally:
- Crawl Sit Use Fine Finger Movements Carry/Lift Over 50 lbs.
