Summary of Primary Functions
The payroll & human resources coordinator will be responsible for payroll processing, auditing, and related functions in accordance with state and federal law. This position will also support the HR Department’s day-to-day operations including coordinating various HR programs and initiatives and acting as a liaison across HR functions and throughout the credit union. The payroll & human resources coordinator will deliver accurate weekly payroll through timely processing and thorough review and auditing. Other payroll responsibilities include verification of hours, ensures appropriate amounts/deductions are calculated, confirms rate and employment status changes, and calculates final pay for terminations and any additional special payroll cycles. Interprets pay policies and resolves payroll issues and concerns with internal stakeholders for accurate and timely payroll processing.
Position Requirements
This position is an exciting new opportunity to be a part of our Human Resource team. There are two essential functions, Payroll and Human Resources.
Payroll responsibilities will include completion of weekly payroll function and ensures that payroll is processed accurately to comply with company policies and procedures. Completes the data entry and maintains records used to determine pay eligibility for vacation, holiday, other paid and unpaid time off and personal time taken. Administer 401K plan including fielding questions, assisting with annual audit and communication requirements. Process special payroll cycles such as annual incentive bonuses, monthly variable compensation for eligible employees, merit increases, discretionary bonuses, etc.
HR Coordinator responsibilities will include maintenance and support of all HR systems, including data entry in HRIS, timekeeping system, the credit union intranet/portal, DNA Live, etc. Supports the recruiting, pre-employment, and interviewing process. Administers disability and unemployment claims in coordination with the payroll vendor, the disability carrier, and the various state unemployment agencies. Processes daily HR correspondence. Including overseeing the HR inter-company mailbox and ensuring that inquiries are responded to in a timely manner or are routed to the appropriate HR team member or other business unit as appropriate. Complies with and remain abreast of regulatory/legislative changes affecting human resource practices, processes, and policies relevant to assigned job duties including, but not limited to employment, payroll/compensation, and employee benefits. Assist with the coordination of employee engagement and morale building programs and events. Maintains and coordinates employee rewards and recognition programs, including but not limited to anniversary awards and other rewards programs. Completes and processes department invoices and other required vendor/expense related correspondence and tasks.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development, or equivalent combination of work experience and education. Minimum 2 years of payroll processing and process ownership experience and Minimum 1 year of related human resources experience. Strong knowledge of systems-based payroll processing (preference on ADP Workforce Now) and Strong knowledge of California and Federal payroll laws and practices. Must possess a strong level of expertise in Microsoft Office and Outlook. Ability to travel locally, and non-locally, as required, with a valid driver’s license, valid passport, and reliable transportation available for use in accomplishing job requirements.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch, and crawl. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation and Job Title is commensurate with experience and may fall under the following pay ranges:
Payroll & Human Resource Coordinator- $28.07/hr to $39.30/hr
