Your Role
The Head of Retail Sales will lead retail sales for O Positiv across all retail channels and customers in the United States. This role will be responsible for the retail P&L, driving annual sales growth, new business development, developing exceptional customer and broker relationships, and building a high performing sales organization within O Positiv. The ideal candidate will be a strategic sales leader with a proven track record of success in CPG across multiple channels that is detail oriented, organized, analytical, self-motivated, an effective communicator, and a cross-functional collaborator. This role reports directly to the COO (ex-Bain) and will work cross-functionally with multiple teams at O Positiv.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Retail P&L ownership: Lead O Positiv's overall retail P&L to drive strong and sustainable revenue and margin growth in all categories and accounts in collaboration with the Finance and Retail Marketing teams.
- Sales strategy: Collaborate with the Strategy team to refine the overall retail strategy and lead the creation of category and account specific sales strategies to drive profitable and sustainable multi-year growth to category leadership while build out the roadmap for future success.
- New business development: Effectively generate and execute on new retailer entry opportunities to expand our retail presence in line with the overall retail strategy and forecast.
- Account planning: Develop and effectively execute multi-year account plans to drive growth, incrementality, and gain share in all accounts while positioning O Positiv as a keystone customer priority for many years
- Key meeting management: Plan, coordinate, and lead critical meetings with customers and business partners including new account pitches, buyer meetings, and line reviews
- Relationship management: Build and maintain exceptional relationships with key decision makers and stakeholders at all retailers (including executives, buyers, and merchandisers), distributors, and brokers.
- Forecasting and reporting: Lead retail demand forecasting, define trade marketing budgets, incorporate expected promotional uplifts, and analyze key performance metrics to identify critical insights and improvement opportunities
- Team building and leadership: Hire, develop, mentor, and retain a high performing sales team by providing leadership, support, and motivation to the team
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
- 20+ years of experience in sales (8+ in leadership) with exposure to multiple categories and customers
- Experience in CPG required and in vitamins / supplements, OTC, and personal care strongly preferred
- Clear and quantified success in developing and executing strategic sales plans to drive profitable growth
- Interpersonal:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and achieve an ambitious vision
- Structured and data-driven with ability to frame and solve complex problems individually and with others
- Strategic thinker with eye for value, 80/20 approach, and ability to avoid off-strategy activities / efforts
- Skilled at seeing the bigger picture and the short / long term implications of key decisions
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills that build strong and lasting relationships
- Effective negotiator with ability to "get to yes" with customers and business partners
- Ability to manage multiple moving pieces – hard working, organized, and results-oriented individual
- Highly trustworthy, honest, and ethical individual that thrives in building high trust supportive environments
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation $150K - $250K plus bonus and equity
Position based in our office in Santa Monica, Los Angeles County, CA (Mon-Thu in office and Fridays remote)
