Salary/Hour: $26.10 (rates are dictated by the CBA and are subject to change upon bargaining)
Position Summary:
The Lead Scenic Carpenter is a seasonal hourly position as outlined in the IATSE Agreement classified as a Non-Exempt; IATSE; Full Time Seasonal, Lead Technician and reports to the Charge Scenic Carpenter and Technical Director. The Lead Scenic Carpenter is responsible for the construction and preparation of all assigned scenery in collaboration with the Charge Scenic Carpenter, Lead Scenic Carpenter, and Technical Director. Scheduled employment is from September 9, 2024, through May 4, 2025, with the possibility to continue into the next season.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Construct scenery as directed by the Technical Director and Charge Scenic Carpenter
- Perform repairs to the scenery that falls outside the purview of Stage Operations
- Assist in the load-in and strike of scenery
- Assess and maintain the functionality and safety of the scene shop, tools, and equipment
- Assess and report physical scenic shop facility needs and/or repairs
- Assist in clean up, maintenance, and organization of the scene shop and adjacent areas
- Assist and take direction from the Charge Scenic Carpenter on a daily basis
- Lead intermittent hires as it directly relates to the construction and installation of scenery
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in theatrical carpentry and experience working in professional theatre scene shop.
- Demonstrated skills in:
- Scenic construction methods and tools
- Read and interpret architectural drawings
- Standard rigging practices for the theatre
- Health and safety practices for the theatre
- Hydraulic/pneumatic and mechanized scenery systems
- Ability and desire to work in a positive and collaborative team environment
- Mature, positive, and enthusiastic attitude towards the goal of providing the highest quality work possible in a mutually supportive and convivial environment

- Pre-employment clearances/background checks will be conducted and reevaluated every 3rd year of employment.
- The primary work location is the well-equipped scenic shop on the first floor of the production support facility. Not eligible for remote work. Not eligible for remote work.
Salary & Schedule:
The Lead Scenic Carpenter is a seasonal hourly position as outlined in the IATSE Agreement. This position is compensated at the range of $26.10-$26.10 per hour and includes benefits as outlined in the IATSE Agreement as well as perks afforded to all staff members of Seattle Children’s Theatre. The work schedule is primarily weekdays from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.
