Job Summary: As an Estate Planning and Probate Paralegal, your responsibilities encompass document preparation, case file management, legal research, client services coordination, and overall administrative support. The ideal candidate is well-versed in estate planning and the probate process, a master of organization, and capable of both independent work and enthusiastic teamwork.
Role and Responsibilities:
Probate Assistance:
- Aid attorneys in the probate process, including filing pertinent documents with courts and government agencies.
- Prepare and file probate documents such as petitions, notices, and inventories.
- Maintain client communication and liaise with third parties during the probate process.
- Monitor case deadlines and ensure timely task completion.
Legal Research:
- Conduct in-depth legal research on estate planning and probate in North Carolina, as needed.
- Stay updated on shifts in state laws and regulations that could impact clients.
Client Communication and Relations:
- Communicate empathetically and professionally with clients, addressing queries and concerns promptly.
- Assist in scheduling client meetings and appointments when required.
- Prioritize client satisfaction and needs with a client-centric approach.
Administrative Support:
- Handle general administrative tasks, such as call management, email correspondence, client interactions, and witnessing estate planning document executions.
- Maintain electronic and physical files in line with firm protocols.
- Assist with billing, invoicing, and timekeeping tasks as necessary.
Requirements:
● Minimum of five (5) years of paralegal experience, focused in probate in North Carolina.
● Familiarity with North Carolina probate laws and procedures.
● Impeccable organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
● Capacity to work independently, juggle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
● Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
● Demonstrated teamwork mindset and a willingness to collaborate.
● A proactive and innovative problem-solving approach.
● Ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience within a boutique law firm or similar environment.
