Job Summary:
The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the fitness center. This role encompasses overseeing daily operations, managing staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining high standards of facility maintenance and safety. The Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting the General Manager and leading the team to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight:
- Supervise day-to-day operations of the fitness center to ensure a high standard of service and member satisfaction.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures.
- Monitor and manage the fitness center’s operational budget, including expenditures and revenue streams.
Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate operational staff including front desk personnel, maintenance staff, and other support roles.
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during all operational hours.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote team cohesion.
Customer Service:
- Ensure exceptional customer service is provided to all members and guests.
- Address and resolve member complaints and issues promptly.
- Implement strategies to improve member retention and satisfaction.
Facility Maintenance:
- Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the fitness center, including equipment, locker rooms, and common areas.
- Coordinate regular maintenance schedules and manage relationships with external maintenance contractors.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
Inventory and Supplies:
- Manage inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Coordinate with vendors for the procurement of supplies and equipment.
Financial Management:
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and analysis.
- Monitor operational expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Support the General Manager in financial planning and forecasting.

Marketing and Community Engagement:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the fitness center and its programs.
- Develop and implement community outreach initiatives to increase membership and brand awareness.
- Organize and oversee special events and programs to engage members and the local community.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in a fitness or health-related industry.
- Proven experience in managing a team and overseeing facility operations.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Certifications:
- CPR/AED certification (preferred).

Pay: From $24.09 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
