The Animal CareGiver reports to the Executive Director, and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily animal care, including:
- Daily cleaning of barns and enclosures, and pastures when needed
- Animal feeding/watering and maintaining animal feed schedules
- Aiding with health checks and maintaining treatment plans
- Assisting on rescues, as needed (may include accompanying/driving with other staff to rescue locations, animal transport, communicating with those relinquishing animals to LFS, etc.)
- Assisting with veterinary visits and transports
- Maintaining neat and organized work and storage spaces
- Ensuring tools and other items are put away at the end of the day
- Completing sanctuary projects as assigned by Executive Director
Qualifications:
- This position is open to those 18 and older.
- Able to work 8 hours outdoors in all weather conditions, including cold/wet weather and hot summers
- Able to carry 50 pounds and over— this is a strenuous physical job!
- Valid driver’s license
- Comfortable working will all types of animals and people

- Observant and attentive! The ideal candidate must be able to stay present and observant to ensure that our residents are appropriately cared for and any problems are immediately addressed.
- Calm under pressure and able to handle medical/other emergencies by quickly contacting appropriate help.
- An excellent communicator— you must be able to clearly communicate with the team and volunteers.
- Organized, responsible, and reliable
- Comfortable dealing politely with the general public
- Honest and respectful of your fellow team members, volunteers, and the animals of LFS
- And, of course, the ideal candidate has a positive attitude and is passionate about providing the best possible care for the animal residents at LFS!
Additionally, the candidate must be willing to work some weeknights, weekends, and holidays. This is an hourly position ranging from $16-20 an hour depending on experience, 2 weeks of paid time off, no health benefits.
