Position: Auto Underwriter I
Hours of Work:
Full Time, Non-Exempt

In This Role, You Will…
Underwrite Direct Auto loan applications on a timely basis. You will support the Underwriting Manager of Direct Auto Lending and work directly with Branch employees. You may also underwrite other loan products as needed.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
- Review, analyze, and underwrite Direct Auto applications using sound judgment and company guidelines in the decision-making process.
- Assist Branch employees with negotiation of loans based on internal lending guidelines, fair lending practices, and the ECOA (Equal Credit Opportunity Act).
- Maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial and/or personal information.
- Review financial statements, credit reports, applicable debt ratios, and loan-to-value ratios in order to make credit decisions that mitigate future risk for the company.
- Communicate in a style or manner that develops and maintains a strong business relationship with all contacts.
- May perform additional functions depending on market demand and staffing in order to provide consistent quality customer service.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in a related field of study (i.e. Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Finance). Some college coursework or additional years of experience can be substituted for associate’s degree.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong decision-making and negotiation skills.
- Solution-based communication style.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year of Consumer Finance and/or underwriting experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in a professional setting.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to move about. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
