HOURLY: $16 an hour, starting (8-12 hours a week, with potential for additional hours)

Summary
The Children’s Program Specialist (CPS) is responsible for assisting in the planning, organizing and development of fun, themed educational and social programming for children with neurodevelopmental delays as well as neurotypical peers. The position requires the supervision of children of attendees during our monthly Program Night and other events of the Epilepsy Support Network of Orange County. The CPS is part of an integral team that supports all programs and events. The CPS will also interact with parents in a supportive role to develop positive relationships for effective program delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare the childcare room prior to children's arrival, ensuring a safe environment by removing any potential hazards. Set up arts and crafts supplies, videos, snacks, and sign-in sheets. Monitor the air conditioning for comfort. Instruct parents to sign in their children as they arrive. Make sure parents have filled out a release form for their children and understand the childcare procedures.
- Welcome and provide guidance to volunteers regarding their assigned duties in assisting with childcare.
- Instruct parents to sign in their children upon arrival and ensure they complete required release forms and understand childcare procedures.
- Familiarize yourself with program agenda, purpose, and theme.
- Ensure each attendee has a meaningful, inclusive, developmentally appropriate and amazingly fun experience in Friday Friends Club. We want them to see, feel, and experience an environment where they are a priority.
- Build relationships with parents and children.
- Direct purposeful play activities and supervise children, ensuring their safety and wellbeing. Escort children to restroom facilities, parents, or teen club as needed.
- Maintain vigilance over the children's safety during the meeting, promptly notifying the Director of Programs or Executive Director via cell phone in case of emergencies such as seizures or other issues.
- Ensure each child is properly signed out by their parent at the conclusion of the meeting. Clean and organize the childcare room, returning items to their designated places and restoring the room to its original condition.
In Office Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Children’s Program Coordinator to ensure effective coordination of children’s programs.
- Assist in the planning and organizing of monthly themes, activities, character traits and social skills development for children.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and updating program materials as needed.
- Attend health fairs, outreach and community events representing ESNOC. Participate in other programing events as needed.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required by the organization to stay updated on policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Participate in fundraising campaigns.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Available the Second Friday of every month from 3:30pm-9:30pm. Other hours are flexible

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Children’s Program Specialist should have a passion for working with and affecting positive change in children with developmental challenges.
Specific desired qualifications include:
1. Ability to engage children in a fun, structured and safe environment and facilitate activities.
2. Ability to supervise and direct volunteers.
3. Ability to communicate with parents of children.
4. Ability to understanding the needs and behaviors of children with epilepsy (ESNOC will provide training).
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
· Currently Enrolled in AA or Bachelor’s Program in: Education, Public Health, Nursing, Psychology or similar field
· Experience (1-2 years) working with children, 2-12 years of age, including children with neurodevelopmental challenges
· ABA experience desired
· Training in Seizure Recognition and First Aid (ESNOC will provide training)
· Training in Epilepsy 101 (ESNOC will provide training)
· CPR Training

· Employment is contingent upon clearance of Live Scan fingerprinting – Upon Hiring

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
