Overview:
The Greater Good Science Center is hiring a part-time (20 hours/week) Community Support Specialist to support the education team in building kinder, happier schools and classrooms where everyone belongs. The ideal candidate will have a variety of technical experience supporting online and in-person professional development, excellent “customer service” skills, and a passion for supporting educators and school communities. At least 50% of the time (~10 hours/week), this position will require regular attendance at virtual meetings during working hours concurrent with a Pre-K-12 school day. Those meeting times will be determined at least a month in advance. This position is fully remote.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support during online meetings, conducted via Zoom, including, but not limited to: screensharing, recording the session, preparing and managing breakout rooms, spotlighting, link sharing, launching polls, etc.
- Manage communications with participants before and after event, ensuring they have the information needed to successfully join the call and resources following the event
- Respond to questions and comments in our online discussion boards, creating a supportive and engaging environment for participants
- Post and respond to Greater Good Educators Gathering Space Facebook group
Required Qualifications
- Experience in or comfort with virtual learning environments, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Canvas, and/or other learning platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in building relationships and working with peers.
- Skills or experience supporting diverse participant needs
- Passionate about social-emotional learning and/or deep interest in supporting the well-being of education professionals, students, and school communities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PreK-12 education
- Familiarity with—and affinity for—the Greater Good Science Center’s mission and programs.
Salary and Benefits
This is a 1-year, part-time (20 hours/week), Contract Appointment, eligible for full UC benefits with the possibility of extension. The annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $30,000 - $40,000/year plus benefits.
