SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant provides excellent patient experience and medical care.
You must know AthenaHealth EMR and be able to work both back and front office.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keeps exam rooms/procedure rooms stocked/set up according to departmental guidelines.
- Maintains, cleans, and calibrates medical equipment to meet quality assurance and infection control guidelines.
- Documents chief complaint, takes and records vital signs, and completes history questions per procedure.
- Uses proper charting procedures.
- Manages telephone messages daily and answers phones as well.
- Preps charts for the next clinic day, ensuring all labs, x-rays, etc. are in the chart and ready for review.
- Records and documents of all injections and/or immunizations are given, including lot #, location, NDC number, and initials orders in accordance with procedure.
- Manages EHR tasks for the care team daily. This includes Labs, diagnostics, medication refills, etc. All tasks must be completed by end of the day.
- Checks injections and supplies for expired items and lets the supervisor know what needs to be ordered before we run out
- Check fax outbox/inbox to ensure there are no failed faxes and that all faxes are assigned to the appropriate person/patient.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/SKILLS
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program – diploma or certification of completion
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
