Carpenter & Costin, a renowned leader in hardscape design, landscape design, landscape maintenance, and snow management, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Lead Fleet Mechanic. This role involves managing our maintenance department and medium-sized fleet, ensuring efficiency and optimal performance. Responsibilities
- Proactively manage parts ordering, scheduling, and equipment repairs to minimize downtime.
- Perform maintenance tasks in both workshop and field settings to maintain continuous production.
- Conduct complex on-site diagnostics and repairs on commercial lawn mowers and 2-cycle engines (such as string trimmers, edgers, and blowers).
- Maintain the condition of service vehicles, trailers, inventory, tools, and equipment.
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments.
- Complete all required forms and paperwork for work assignments accurately.
- Account for all time and materials used during repairs and maintenance.
- Direct and evaluate work assignments for the entire maintenance department, including coordinating with third-party vendors and managing warranty support.
- Oversee daily operations of the shop, ensuring productivity, safety, and cleanliness.
- Communicate maintenance schedules to team leaders and owners, keeping them informed about available assets and operational status.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years' experience in a fleet maintenance environment.
- At least three years of experience in a supervisory maintenance role.
- Proficiency in working with diesel engines, gas engines, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and emission systems.
- Ability to accurately troubleshoot and diagnose various systems using appropriate tools.
- Familiarity with FMCSA DOT regulations is a plus.
- Valid driver's license.
- Physical ability to stand for long hours and lift heavy loads.
- Willingness to work variable hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation
$60,000-$85,000
